The luxury maritime world has a new masterpiece to admire following the official debut of Heed, a stunning 173-foot custom aluminum superyacht constructed by the renowned Italian shipyard Rossinavi. Originally touching the water earlier this year in January, the vessel has now been presented in its entirety to the public and industry insiders at the prestigious Monaco Yacht Show, drawing significant attention for its innovative design, efficient engineering, and seamless integration with the marine environment.
Federico Rossi, Rossinavi’s chief operating officer, emphasized the profound impact the project is expected to have on the broader luxury vessel market. In a statement released during the yacht’s debut, Rossi noted that crafting the vessel proved to be an exceptionally stimulating endeavor, one destined to leave a lasting mark on the industry through its forward-thinking naval architecture and custom craftsmanship.
Heed was brought to life through a close and highly collaborative partnership between Rossinavi and the yacht’s owner. To achieve the desired aesthetic and functional balance, the shipyard enlisted prominent designer Alberto Mancini to spearhead the exterior styling, while acclaimed designer Achille Salvagni was brought on board to execute the intricate interior spaces. Built around a fast-displacement hull with a volume kept strictly under the 500 GT threshold, the yacht successfully delivers immense interior and exterior living space without ever compromising on sophisticated style or hydrodynamic performance.
Working within the 499 GT regulatory limit presented a unique design challenge, but it also offered a rare degree of freedom. Mancini explained that staying under this specific gross tonnage threshold allowed the design team to fundamentally rethink proportions and spatial layouts. The resulting silhouette is simultaneously distinctive and timeless, characterized by sleek architectural lines and wonderfully balanced volumes. To further accentuate this sculpted exterior, the yacht has been finished in a striking metallic gray paint on the hull. This specialized finish is not static; rather, it shifts dynamically with the changing light throughout the day, creating an interplay of reflections against the surrounding sea and sky.
One of the defining characteristics of Heed is the deliberate blurring of boundaries between interior and exterior areas. Onboard spaces are designed to maintain a natural flow, allowing the surrounding ocean environment to become an active, integrated part of the yachting experience. The main salon, for instance, is heavily glazed with floor-to-ceiling windows to ensure completely uninterrupted ocean views from nearly any angle. Meanwhile, the panoramic dining area takes indoor-outdoor living a step further by featuring a fold-down balcony that opens directly out over the water, allowing guests to dine with the sound of the waves just below. For even higher vantage points, the observation deck provides another expansive platform designed specifically for taking in sweeping coastal and open-sea scenery.
Breaking away from traditional superyacht layouts, the owner’s suite on Heed is positioned forward on the upper deck rather than the conventional main deck location. According to Mancini, relocating this private sanctuary to the upper deck creates a much quieter, more secluded atmosphere that fosters a more intimate connection to the sea. The private owner’s space opens directly onto a panoramic outdoor area featuring its own private pool, which is specially designed for counter-current swimming. Down at the water level, the beach club offers yet another aquatic retreat, equipped with an additional pool and fold-out side terraces that immerse guests fully in their marine surroundings.
The interior design philosophy crafted by Achille Salvagni mirrors the aquatic and geological themes found right outside the hull. The decor pays subtle tribute to the natural environment through organic shapes and tactile materials. Salons feature custom sofas that unfold with the fluid grace of ocean waves, armchairs that evoke the smooth textures of weathered pebbles and shells, and sculptural architectural details that appear to organically grow out from the surrounding walls and ceilings. The interior color palette continues this organic theme, relying heavily on natural tones by combining brushed and bleached wengé floors, bleached teak walls, and deep dark eucalyptus accents.
Salvagni noted that his primary ambition for the vessel’s interior was to create an atmosphere that felt untouched by human design, as though the spaces had instead been carved and shaped over time by the natural forces surrounding them—namely water, wind, light, and time itself. This commitment to organic continuity ensures that every cabin and social area feels grounded in the natural world rather than layered with superficial luxury.
Beneath the elegant exterior and thoughtfully curated interior lies a robust and efficient engineering package. Heed is powered by twin diesel Caterpillar C32 engines, which together generate a total of 2,230 horsepower. This propulsion setup grants the superyacht a top speed of 17 knots, a comfortable cruising speed of 13 knots, and an impressive transatlantic range of 4,000 nautical miles. Furthermore, to address modern environmental and comfort standards, the vessel is equipped with an advanced onboard battery system. This sophisticated energy storage setup allows for completely silent, emission-free operation while the yacht is resting at anchor, ensuring that guests can enjoy peaceful nights undisturbed by generator noise or exhaust fumes.
