Applications are officially open for the second year of Innovation Hour at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS), offering a high-energy platform designed to put creativity and unconventional product reveals front and center. The fast-paced showcase encourages participating exhibitors to break away from traditional trade show formats, pushing them to present their latest products in dynamic, unexpected ways rather than relying on standard slide decks and corporate presentations.
The unique program places selected brands directly in front of a live audience on the KBIS NEXTStage, which serves as the premier destination for education, trends, and design programming at the massive annual event. Each chosen brand is given a tightly managed, five-minute moderated presentation window to make an impact, demonstrate their product’s value, and capture the imagination of the industry professionals gathered in the room.
Following the conclusion of all the brand presentations, an audience consisting of interior designers, trade media representatives, influential industry figures, and other professionals will participate in a live vote. This interactive element allows attendees to select winners across three distinct categories: "Most Innovative," "Most Unexpected," and "I’d Spec That Tomorrow." By putting the voting power directly into the hands of the audience, the program provides participating brands with immediate, real-time feedback from the exact demographic they are most eager to reach, specify to, and influence.
The Innovation Hour program first debuted with immense success at KBIS 2026, setting a high benchmark for future showcases. During that inaugural session, nine presenting brands took to the stage, generating more than 200 live audience votes and considerable buzz across the exhibition floor. The competitive presentations highlighted cutting-edge materials, forward-thinking sustainability, and clever spatial engineering that caught the attention of design leaders.
Among the standout winners from the inaugural 2026 showcase was Caesarstone, which was honored with the "Most Innovative" award for Caesarstone ICON, an advanced sustainable fusion surface designed to meet modern ecological and aesthetic standards. Meanwhile, the "Most Unexpected" category was claimed by MAGPPIE Silverstone for its silver-infused technical stone, an inventive material specifically engineered to serve as a high-performance replacement for traditional wood in kitchen cabinetry applications. Rounding out the winner’s circle, appliance giant LG earned the "I’d Spec That Tomorrow" accolade for its LG SIGNATURE Counter-Depth French-Door Refrigerator with Thin Door Design. This appliance notably features innovative Zero Clearance hinges that allow both doors to open fully and smoothly, even when installed tightly against walls or within confined kitchen layouts.
Reflecting on the impact of the debut program, Nicole Miller, director of program and product strategy at Caesarstone, emphasized the immense value the platform provided for their brand. "We at Caesarstone found Innovation Hour to be a powerful platform to showcase Caesarstone ICON," said Miller. "Being recognized as ‘Most Innovative’ was a meaningful validation of how strongly our ICON surfaces and sustainability messaging resonated with the audience."
Looking ahead to the upcoming event, all official KBIS 2027 exhibitors are eligible to throw their hats into the ring and apply for a coveted spot on stage. Applications are currently being accepted and must be submitted online through the designated application form by December 4, 2026. Once the submission window closes, the selection process will take place, and chosen brands will be officially notified by January 2027, giving them ample time to prepare their high-impact, five-minute presentations.
The live Innovation Hour showcase is scheduled to take place during KBIS on February 2, 2027, starting at 12 p.m. at the sprawling Las Vegas Convention Center on the KBIS NEXTStage. Winners across the three coveted categories will be tallied and triumphantly announced at the immediate close of the session, setting the stage for continued industry excitement and design innovation throughout the remainder of the trade show.
