The strategic expansion into Utah highlights the region’s growing prominence within the national interior design landscape. According to company leadership, the decision to establish a dedicated studio in Salt Lake City reflects broader demographic and cultural shifts that have transformed the local market into a thriving hub for creative and traditional design professionals.
“Salt Lake City has become one of the most exciting design markets in the country,” said Schumacher North America President Emily Romero, discussing the vision behind the new location. “There’s a deep respect in the community for traditional design and a real understanding that home is where the heart is. As more people and families put down roots in Utah, the appetite for thoughtful, quality design has grown right alongside them, and we wanted to bring Salt Lake City’s designers a resource that’s built around the same classic, enduring style they already gravitate toward. This market takes home seriously, and we’re proud to be a part of it.”
To bring this vision to life, Schumacher enlisted renowned designer David Frazier to mastermind the interior architecture of the new space. Frazier’s design for the 2,500-square-foot studio creates a seamless, immersive environment where interior designers can explore a vast curated selection of materials. Within the studio, professionals will gain direct access to almost 10,000 wallcovering, fabric, and trim samples. These offerings include signature collections from Schumacher as well as items from its esteemed family of sister brands, providing a comprehensive catalog under one roof. Among the represented sister brands are Patterson Flynn, known for its exceptional rugs and carpets; Backdrop, celebrated for its modern and thoughtful approach to paint and color; and Tillett Textiles, recognized for its artisanal hand-printed fabrics, alongside other premier lines associated with the design house.
Beyond functioning as a sample library, the Salt Lake City studio has been thoughtfully engineered to support the daily workflows of working interior designers. The facility features a dedicated workspace specifically created for hosting client meetings, reviewing project proposals, and developing intricate design schemes. This collaborative area is designed to be utilized in tandem with the experienced Schumacher sales team stationed on-site, offering local professionals personalized assistance and expert guidance to streamline their project execution.
Furthermore, the studio aims to foster a stronger sense of community among local creatives by regularly hosting frequent design-industry events. These gatherings are intended to provide networking opportunities, educational sessions, and firsthand introductions to new collections, positioning the South Highland Drive location not merely as a showroom, but as a vibrant epicenter for Utah’s design professionals to connect, collaborate, and draw inspiration for their residential and commercial projects.
